Kindergarten is such an exciting and wonderful milestone in your child’s life. Motor skills, gross and fine motor, play a key part in learning and exploring. Strong motor skills support a successful start to kindergarten and help to foster self-confidence in school. Do you as a parent have questions such as: Should my child be able to cut with scissors? How can I help my child to enjoy colouring or drawing? My child keeps switching between the right and left hand, is this ok? How can I help my child learn to do the zipper on his /her coat?
Parents of incoming kindergarten students are invited to attend a parent session on “How to help get your child ready for Kindergarten” on March 12th, 2018 from 6:30pm – 7:30pm, with the kindergarten teachers at West Royalty along with an Occupational Therapist. The focus of the evening will be on exploring ways in which you can best support your child’s motor skills in preparation for kindergarten in the fall. There will be opportunity to listen, play and ask questions as well as sharing of easy activity ideas to take home and try with your child. This evening will be an introduction in preparation for the Welcome to Kindergarten event you and your child will attend in April.
Please RSVP by calling the school at 902-368-6790 or emailing email@example.com by February 27th so that we can plan accordingly.
We look forward to seeing all the parents of our incoming kindergarten students on March 12th. We’re excited to work with you to help get your child ready for September.
