Chef Mitchell Gallant, father of Ava Gallant, spent the morning guiding Kindergarten through the soup making process. Earlier in the fall children harvested root vegetables planted by last year’s kindergarten (now Gr. 1). They sorted them by variety and then stored them until we decided what to do with them. Students brainstormed ideas of what to do with the harvest; shepherd’s pie, vegetable cake, soup? When we talked to Chef Mitchell and he suggested a chicken soup. The students wanted to share the soup with their parents during conferences to thank them and give back.
