Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 – Day 6

Athletic Fees:

  • Thank you to all athletes who have paid their athletic fee ($30 for team sport, $10 for individual sports).  For anyone who hasn’t paid, please pay your coach or online: https://birchwood.payschoolfees.net/admin/?sid=&un=0

Student Fees:

Baseball:  

  • Congratulations to the AA Provincial Champion Birchwood Cobras on a season that can only be described as dominant.  Going 7-0 with a 36 run differential over the 7 games.
  • The boys got better as the season went on, and the provincial playoffs serve as proof:  The boys put up an 8-1 Win in the Semi finals against QC and a 10-1 win in the finals against a good Summerside squad.  Congratulations Boys on a perfect season.

Field Hockey:

  • Ms. Holmes, Ms. McGillivray, and Ms. Walsh would like to thank all the girls for their hard work this season. Special recognition goes out to our grade 9 girls – Brooke Smith, Aleea Kirkam, Holly Coffin, and Jami Ward.  We hope to see you on the field at Rural next year. A big congratulations goes out to Brooke Smith who was named an allstar. Could the girls please meet in Mme. Walsh’s room at break.

Hockey Academy:

  • Today at Synergy Fitness at the Mount. Please excuse students at 1:40.

Soccer:

  • Girls’ AA soccer:  Practice today. Semi finals at home tomorrow vs KISH at 4:00
  • Boys’ AA soccer: Boys playoff game at 4:15 vs Stonepark. Taxis will be leaving at 3:30. Please come see Mr Murphy if you are getting your own drive. Go Cobras!

Volleyball:

  • Boys’ Volleyball: Practice today after school.

X-Country :   

  • Congrats to all X-country runners who travelled up to Mill River on the weekend.  Diviym Khubar, and Will Landry finished 3rd overall in their division. While Brooke Walsh finished 4th in the Bantam division.  Our girls team finished second.

Basketball:

  • Early morning basketball is every Tues/Thurs 7 – 8:15am – all boys and girls welcome!

Library

  • There will be a very short Library Monitor meeting at break. All monitors must attend.
  • This week at Birchwood, we are celebrating the importance of Canadian School Libraries. Today in the library we are celebrating our readers! “A READER TODAY, A LEADER TOMORROW.” Anyone who is found reading in our library today will be served a complimentary glass of hot chocolate.

Leadership

  • Leadership students (with the permission of their teacher) will be meeting in the library on their flex periods to prepare for our spirit week.

Music:

  • Band:
    • Grade 9 band tomorrow morning, 7:45.
    • Grade 8 band Tuesday morning, 7:45.
    • Grade 7 band Wednesday at noon.
  • Jazz:
    • Tuesday, at noon in band room
  •  Glee:
    • Thursday at noon in Mr. Underhay’s room

Outdoor adventure club:

  • There will be a meeting for all outdoor club members at 12:15 in Mr Dohoo’s room to discuss this week’s two outings. New members are always welcome
