Oak Acres Counsellor in Training: 

  • Any students aged 14-16 years old, who are interested in applying to work as a Counsellor-in-Training at Oak Acres for half of the summer, please contact Ms. Forbes. CIT’s are mentored by camp counsellors and are involved in supervision of campers, leading activities, with a chance to meet other Island youth their age. Applications are available in the counselling office.

Fry Truck is back today. Bring your toonie and get some fries!

Flag Football:

  • Good luck to the AA girls team today in their game against Montague @4:30.  Please meet at gym doors after school to arrange rides.
  • Congrats to the boys A football team who won 20-0 yesterday in Cornwall well done boys!
  • AA boys football play tonight at 6:50 @ Francois Buote, your 7:40 game has been cancelled, it will be rescheduled at a later date.  Good luck today boys!
  • ALL PLAYERS – please get your fees in ASAP to the gym or your coach!

Book Inventory:  

  • Book count will take place next Tuesday May 21.  Students, be sure to have all your textbooks with you. (Math, Science, Social Studies)

Math Gauss:

  • Congratulations to Muna Obodo grade 8 and Alex Cai grade 7 for receiving the highest scores in yesterday’s math competition for their respected grades.  Well Done!!

Band:   

  • All grade 7 band, grade 8 band, grade 9 band, jazz band, rock band, and glee club members will be invited to go the cafeteria after lunch today.  Please go to your first period class after lunch and listen for the announcement to proceed to the cafeteria.
  • Grade 9 band is CANCELLED for tomorrow morning.

  • AA boys flag football had an impressive win yesterday 31-19 in their first game and 52-0 for their second. They will practice today after school.

Girls Softball

  • Our Cobras battled Queen Charlotte in the cold wind and rain to come out with their first win of the season earning a 3-1 victory.  The Win highlighted by an impressive pitching performance from Neely Johnston as well as some tight team defence in pressure situations.  Next action is this Friday at East Wiltshire.

TRACK AND FIELD

  • All students going to the Zone 3 track and field meet tomorrow ; please meet in the gym today at 9:45.  HAND ALL FORMS AND $ TO MS. MORRISON!

Gauss Competition:

Tuesday, May 14, 2019 – Day 4

Track and Field:

  • All students that have signed up for track and field ; please meet in the gym today at 9:45.

Girls Flag Football:

  • Congrats to the AA girls team on another dominating win against Gulf Shore last night. Well Done!
  • Congrats as well to our girls A team on winning both games last night against Queen Charlotte and Stonepark!  Special mention to Grace Bulger and Zoe Olscamp for playing EXCEPTIONALLY well! Practice will be Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15 – 4:30.

Girls Softball:

  • Our first game is today at 4:30 against Queen Charlotte at Spring Lane field. All girls please meet in the library at break.

Math Gauss:  

  • Can students who are writing the math Gauss competition tomorrow please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room today at break for an important meeting.

Dear Grade 8 Parents,

  • Wednesday, May 15, we will be meeting in the cafeteria, at 6:00pm, to discuss the grade 9 trip for 2019/2020 school year. We will review possible dates, a sample itinerary, and discuss fund-raising opportunities for students. If you cannot attend, we will post information covered at the meeting on the school website.

Impact Expo @ Holland College:

  • Code Club Members and any Grade 7, 8 or 9 students interested in attending the Impact Expo at the Holland College Charlottetown Campus for an inside glance at Prince Edward Island’s thriving video game industry may sign up in the Main Office. It is being held on Thursday, May 23rd, for the day. Seats are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. The Expo targets students who have an interest in pursuing an IT career. Lunch will be provided and all students will be responsible for completing any missed class work. Birchwood Semi Dance 2019:

  • Where:      Rodd Charlottetown Hotel on Kent Street
  • When:        June 14th – 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
  • Tickets will be sold in the school lobby on May 16 and May 22 during lunch break.  The tickets are $20.00.  Please be ready to provide a parent/guardian contact phone number when you purchase a ticket.  If you are bringing a guest from outside of Birchwood School, you must have a parent/guardian contact number for your guest as well.

  • A Girls travel to Cornwall today – first game is at 3:40, then 4:30.  ALL players must have their forms signed.
  • AA Girls play at 6pm at Francois Buote- Can AA Girls please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room at Break for a meeting.
  • AA Boys 6:50 at Francois Buote:  players are asked to meet in the gym at break to arrange drives.
  • All flag football players and softball players should pay their coach or Ms Morrison their $10 athletic fee.  Please have your money paid before your next game.

Outdoor Adventure Club:

  • The outdoor adventure club will have a short meeting today at 1215 in room 225.

Thursday, May 5, 2019 – Day 1

Track and Field:

  • High Jump try outs will take place in the gym at lunch.  Anyone wishing to participate in track and Field must sign up for the events outside the gym area by the end of this week.  Tomorrow’s deadline to sign up is firm. Monday is too late!

Flag Football:

  • Boys A and AA flag football practices today after school.

Flag Football:

  • Flag Football Girls A will practice today and tomorrow (Thursday) from 3:15 – 4:30.  New list is on the bulletin board by the gym.
  • Good luck to the A boys flag football team today as they play in Cornwall after school.  The A boys team will have a quick meeting in the gym after afternoon announcements

High Jump:

  • High Jump tryouts in the gym tomorrow at lunch. Anyone interested please sign up outside the gym area today!

Math Gauss:  

  • Gauss students will meet in the Library today after school until 4.

Wrestling:

  • Practice in gym tomorrow after school.

Band:  

  • Grade 7 band at lunch today is cancelled due to an off-ground day for grade 7 students.

Outdoor Adventure Club:

  • The outdoor adventure club will have a short meeting on today at 12:15 in room 225. All members interested in hiking on Thursday must attend the meeting to plan for transportation. As always new members are welcome!

Flag football:

  • Girls AA Flag football team will practice today from 3-4.
  • Boys AA Flag Football –  Good luck to the boys as they kick off their season today in Cornwall ; all players are asked to meet in the gym at break.
