Pink Shirt Day Wednesday, Feb 26

This Wednesday, February 26th, West Royalty Elementary School will join schools and organizations across Canada to recognize Pink Shirt Day; an annual event marked to recognize Anti-Bullying Day in Canada.

Pink Shirts are worn to show support against bullying. In 2007, two youth, David Shepherd and Travis Price of Nova Scotia witnessed Chuck McNeill, a grade 9 student, being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. The two boys went out that night and purchased 50 pink shirts. The following morning, they handed the shirts out to 50 male students as they entered school. This silent protest against bullying caught on and is now recognized internationally. We encourage everyone to stand up against bullying and wear Pink!
