Hello Parents and Guardians,                                                                                             As we come into this season of giving, we are encouraging students to consider the needs of others. The grade six classes at Stratford Elementary are organizing a fundraising initiative to contribute to the Local Foodbank – Upper Room.

As well, our grade 5 classes hope to be able to use some of the donations to fill the community fridge.

This school fundraiser will run from December 6th to December 10th. This year, we will be collecting monetary donations only. Arrangements are being made to allow parents to make a donation on the school hot lunch website, or money can be sent in to homeroom teachers. Students will receive ballots for their donations, giving them a chance to win a gift card for ToysRUs!

While grade 6 classes will be giving the Foodbank a cheque, the grade 5 classes (teachers) will be shopping and filling the fridge.

Thanks for your support!

Stratford Elementary Christmas Angels

Every year, families and community groups help support families within our school who are in need of extra support during the holiday season – our “Christmas Angels” program allows any interested person(s), families or group(s) to offer donations (gift cards, cash) and/or to purchase Christmas wish items for children and their families within our school community. Currently we have several families who would benefit from having additional support during the holiday season – please let our school counsellors (Denise Doyle, or Darlene Heilman, or Dylan Taylor, know if you would like to contribute in some way to this program. Our families benefit immensely from the kindness and generosity of our community each and every year!

Weekly Covid Screening Message

Families play an important role in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring that students can access educational services. It is important for you to monitor your child’s health each day before sending them to school and to keep them home when they feel ill. If your child exhibits any of the symptoms listed below and they are unusual for your child, parents/guardians are asked to call 811 . Students are expected to remain home until they are free of symptoms.

In addition, if you have traveled outside regions as per the current CPHO guidelines, you are asked to declare this to the school, and follow the current CPHO measures in place at the time (e.g. self-isolation).

If your child shows one or more symptom while at school, you will be asked to pick your child up.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • new or worsening cough
  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • fever
  • chills
  • sore throat
  • runny nose, sneezing, congestion
  • headache
  • muscle aches
  • unusual fatigue
