As announced by Dr. Morrison today, there are additional enhanced masking measures in our schools. Starting tomorrow: September 16th.

Students in grades 4 to 6 will be required to wear masks indoors at all times and on the bus when physical distancing is not possible, similar to students in Grades 7 to 12. Exemptions include:
When staff and students are able to physically distance within a classroom (6ft/2m);
Eating or drinking;
Participating in a physical activity (e.g. gym, outdoor recess);
Engaging in an activity which prevents them from doing so (e.g. playing a wind instrument);
When it poses a safety concern (e.g. welding); or
When a school assesses wearing a non-medical mask is not in the best interest of a student due to physical, medical or other factors.
After-school and extracurricular activities will resume.

As always, any individuals who are experiencing symptoms, even mild symptoms, should get tested immediately. Fast, accessible testing is available in locations across PEI. You can find a list of locations and times at

I understand this has been a challenging start to the year for some. We will work with our students to support them in meeting these requirements. I appreciate your patience and cooperation.

To the Stratford Elementary Community,

We are ready to welcome in all of our students, new and returning to grades 3, 4, 5, & 6 English and French Immersion!  We are so excited that the return in September 2021 will be at a state of low risk (  ).

Our day schedule is posted on this website as well. Drop offs can happen no earlier than 8:00 am as this is when our staff begins student supervision. Student pick-ups can be between 2:20-2:35. Please make sure when dropping off in the drop-off lane that you are pulling up as far as you can to let your child out of the car, so other vehicles can pull up behind you. Drivers are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and picking up students.

Please check your child’s backpack for information and forms at the end of the first day. You will need to address some of the paperwork.

All students in grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 will begin on September 7th.

Staff are excited to be preparing for the students on September 7th. A full staff will be available to ensure that students get to their proper classes.

While this year will be closer to normal than last year, we will still have some enhanced guidelines in place to ensure our school stays safe and healthy.

The Public Schools Branch has created a resource on their website to provide an overview of the COVID-19 protocols for the start of the year. You can find it at

There are a few areas I would like to highlight. The first is regarding screening for symptoms. It is essential that students and parents screen for symptoms on a daily basis. You can use this screening tool every morning to decide if your child should attend school:

The second area I would like to highlight is masking. The following masking requirements will be in place for the start of the school year:

  • Masks are required for staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, when in common areas and when transitioning through the school building. Masks may be removed when seated in classrooms or meeting areas;
  • Masks are required for staff when working with Grades K-6 when physical distancing is not possible, regardless of vaccination status;
  • Masks are required for staff who work with students in grades K-12 who are at higher risk of severe illness and outcomes from COVID-19 when physical distancing is not possible, regardless of vaccine status;
  • Masks are recommended inside all locations of the school for staff, students and visitors who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and who are not fully vaccinated; and
  • Masks will be required for staff and students in all grades on school buses. (Bus drivers may remove masks when seated, facing forward or driving the bus.)

Please talk with your child before school to help them understand what is expected for masking when at school.

Finally, if there is ever a confirmed case of COVID-19 connected with our school, public health will work with us to do contact tracing and inform anyone who may have been exposed. It is important that we have your current contact information. Please check that your phone number(s) are up-to-date in the system.  You can do this using the information sheets that are sent home with your child during the first week of school. This information will also help us contact you should we have a mid-day school closure, such as a storm closure.

No Child Left Behind                                                                                                                            Ms. Cameron                                                                                                                            Principal, Stratford Elementary School

P.S                                                                                                                                                          We are looking for lunch program volunteers. If you are interested, please call Colleen Mullen Doyle at 902-569-7750
