Young Citizens Through Canada History Contest:
Support for Jayden Paul’s Heritage Fair video: Jayden Paul, 7I, is a participant in the Young Citizens Through Canada’s History Contest. Please take a moment and vote for her Video on St. Mary’s First Nation online at:

Voting opens June 11th and will run for one month until July 12th, 2019. With our support, she could win a trip to Ottawa, to attend Canada’s History Forum. Voting is allowed once per day.

Duke of Edinburgh:
The Duke of Edinburgh applications have been extended to Monday, June 11th. This will be the final date if any grade 8 would like to be part of the Stonepark Duke of Edinburgh team.  Please submit your applications to Mr. McIntosh or Mr. Dunn.

Youth Empowerment Program PEI:
This summer the Youth Empowerment Programme PEI will be organizing 6 week long camps for youth between 11 – 15 years old.
The Programme is designed to help youth learn how to build true friendships, help others in their community, develop their ability to express themselves while making good decisions. It will be a time of playing sport, having group discussions, creating music, drama, painting and crafts, and planning projects to help the community.
The group will be setting up a booth just before school starts on today (Wednesday) if you have any questions.

Battle of the Bands:
We hope to have lots of students attend the Battle of the Bands on June 12th, but you have to pay by June 7th, so get your $3 to your class reps as soon as possible.  Class reps are reminded to check off the names of anyone who pays and to bring their envelopes to Ms. Poirier during any homeroom that they collect money.  Let’s show our brave performers that we appreciate the hard work they have put into rehearsing for the show!

AA Girls Flag football:

Will practice today (Wednesday,) after school 3:10-4:15 First playoff game is Thursday.

Girls Softball:
The girl’s softball team clinched first place in the east division by defeating Birchwood 8-6 yesterday. Sydney Lawlor pitched another great game striking out 6. Lilly Keefe, Zoe Stewart and Kezlee Yorston were the top batters. The girls finished the regular season with a record of 5-1. The girls will play East Wiltshire Monday. Time and field to be determined!

Tuesday – Day 6

Lego Club:
Lego Club will meet today at lunch in Mrs. Richards’ room. All are welcome. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Duke of Edinburgh:

“There will be an information meeting at reading period in the cafeteria for those current grade 7 & 8 students who would like to find out more about the Stonepark Hockey Academy.  Applications will be available at the meeting, then in the main office and online. Deadline is June 14.

Girls Softball Team:

The girl’s softball team took over first place by beating Birchwood yesterday 3-1.  Sydney Lawlor was once again excellent on the mound striking out nine. Keri Anderson and Menna McCabe came up with the big hits. The girl’s conclude their regular season today with a gamer against Birchwood at Sprong Lane at 4:30. Girls are to let Mr. Dunn know at reading period if you need a drive. Taxis will leave at 3:30.

Monday – Day 5

Coding Club:
Coding Club will meet today at 12:20 in Mrs. Reynard’s room.  This will be the last meeting for the school year.

Theme Days:
For the next 3 Wednesdays we will have theme days,this week will be Favourite Character day. Hope to see you all take part in some of the free fun 🙂  Could all class reps bring any Battle of the Band money collected to Ms. Poirier following announcements, please?

Track Athletes:
Last week was a busy week for our Track athletes. We participated in the regional meet at UPEI on Monday with a bit of success. Bella Quinn finished the day with a 3rd in the 150m dash, a 2nd in the 80m dash and a 1st in the High Jump. Gwen Costello finished 2nd in the 800m run, Eric McCashion raced to a 2nd place in both the 800m and 1200m runs, in very close races. Luke Coughlin earned a 2nd place in the discus and Josh Burgess was 4th in the High Jump and won 1st place in the Shot Put. Jacob Bearisto earned 3rd in the triple jump and Livi Lawlor raced 4th in the 100m dash. Ethan MacBeth finished 4th in the 100m dash and ran a strong 2000m to win 2nd.
At the Provincial Meet on Friday and Saturday our athletes continued their success. Ethan MacBeth missed out on 2nd place in the 2000m by hundredths of seconds, earning 3rd in the province and Josh Burgess improved his distance for Shot Put by 80cm and placed 2nd in the province. Both Livi Lawlor and Ethan MacBeth qualified for the finals in their sprint events and ran strong races. Congrats to everyone who competed this year!

Friday – Day 4

Leadership:
This message is for all peer mentors.  Today (Friday) is our last day for running all peer mentor activities, including EAL

Green Team:
Any member of the Green Team who plans on going on the field on Monday, must have their permission form in to Mrs. Burry today. Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring a reusable water bottle and a garbageless lunch.

Extra Help:
There will be extra help today (day 4) on both sides in Industrial Arts @ 12:15, please be on time.

Needlecraft Club:
Needlecraft Club will meet for the final time this year in Miss Dockendorff’s Room at 12:15 today.

Lost & Found Table:
Reminder to all students, today (Friday) is the last day for the lost and found table.  If items are not picked up by noontime, they will be forwarded on to a charity.

Thursday – Day 3

Valedictory Candidates:
All candidates for the valedictory speech will present their prepared speech today at 12:30 in Ms. Bruce’s room, upstairs grade nine.

Leadership:
All leadership members are asked to hop onto Google Classroom to vote for their top 3 theme days.  Also, a reminder to everyone to pay $3 to their leadership reps in order to attend the Battle of the Bands, money due June 7th.

Drama Club:
This morning we will have two presentations of the Drama Club’s production: DYSTOPIA!  All homeroom teachers need to send a student with the list of who has paid to attend and the money to the office immediately.  Also, all Drama Club members are to go straight to the cafeteria after the announcements to prepare for the play.  Students will be called down when it is showtime.

Semi:
Grade 9 semi tickets will be sold today (Thursday) –  this is the last date for buying tickets) in the lobby at lunchtime for $20.00 each.
Please note:

If you are bringing a guest that is not a grade nine student at Stonepark you will need to register them when you buy the ticket.

Oak Acres Counsellor In Training:
If your interested in becoming a Counsellor in Training for “Oak Acres”, please see Neil or Ashley in Student Services by the end of the day today.

Girls Softball:
The girl’s softball team faced their first adversity of the season losing to Queen Charlotte yesterday. Sydney Lawlor pitched a great game, but many errors and mental gaps led to the collapse. The girls were up 13-11 in the final inning but lost the game 24-13. Youngster Lilly Keefe continues to be a force at the plate getting on base 3 times. The girls look to bounce back today against Birchwood today. The game is at George Smith Field. Students are to see Mr. Dunn at reading period if you need a drive,  taxis will leave at 3:30.

Tuesday – Day 1
