Boys AA Soccer:
The AA boys soccer team captured the provincial title on Saturday after a 2-0 win over Hernewood.  Playing against the wind in the first half, the Tigers spent the first few minutes defending against a determined Hernewood side.  Weathering the storm, Stonepark found their attacking stride with some well worked passing that picked apart the Hernewood defence.  A Jon Fradsham cross, followed by a well struck volley by Chase Bell and the Tigers were on the board 1-0.  Finding their confidence, Stonepark pressed hard and were again rewarded for their play when Nathan Wheeler slotted the game’s second goal a few minutes later.  Stonepark’s defence held tough against Hernewood, with center backs, Nathan and Ben Wohlgemut making tackle after tackle.  But the defensive play of the match came with 15 minutes to play.  Off of a Hernewood corner, the ball fell in the Stonepark 6 yd box – during the scramble there were 6 shots at goal, all saved off of the goal line by Stonepark players to preserve the 2 goal lead.
Grade 9 players suiting up for Stonepark soccer for their final game were:  Jon Fradsham, Chase Bell, Ben Wohlgemut, RJ Acorn, Ibrahim Abouassalli, Sean Rooney.

Girls AA Soccer:
The Girls AA Soccer team finished their season strong on Saturday, against Birchwood. The girls played a tough game and were able to hold off the Birchwood Cobras to finish the regulation play with a 0-0 score. The girls played a strong offence in the double overtime to keep the game scoreless. Into the shootout, we were still tied 1-1 after 5 shots, so we went to extra shootouts. After the 6th shot for each team, Stonepark took home the silver medal. Player of the game for Stonepark was Emma Matheson. All girls played a strong game, with a wonderful performance by Maddie Cormier in the net. We would like to send a special thank you to our outgoing grade 9 players: Maddie Cormier, Emma Matheson, Ashlyn Shaw, Gracie Hogan, Aby Walsh, Samantha Wood, Lilly Mallett, Willow MacDougall, Carly McCarron, Emma Swim, and Tamara Gauthier. Our Stonepark Tigers definitely made the Cobras work for their gold medal. Thank you to all girls for a great season! Your coaches are so proud!
