Hello Parents and Guardians,
We hope that this email finds you and all your family members well. While March break has ended, the uncertainty around Coronavirus (Covid-19) has required that all schools on PEI remain closed until April 6.
Yesterday, March 23, the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning (DELL) provided generic ongoing learning opportunities for students while at home. Parents and students are able to refer to the PSB website at https://edu.princeedwardisland.ca/psb/ for initial activities and tasks that will support ongoing student learning. Additional learning resources will be posted on Wednesday, March 25th. Students may also check in on the Google Classroom for their various classes, or Teacher Blogs, where previous assignments and class work have been posted – it is always good to revisit and review previously done work.
We are aware that these are uncertain times for everyone and can empathize with the mix of anxieties and fears that you and your families might be feeling at this difficult time. We all wish that we could be together back in the classrooms at Stonepark, but until that time, we ask that we continue to support each other and our neighbours through these unheard of times in the face of so many uncertainties. If your child requires to contact any of our counsellors, their emails have been included at the end of this document.
We know how much being with friends means to our students, and how the requests for social-distancing to help “flatten the curve” is a challenge for many of us, especially children. We would ask that you please remind your teenager that while they may want to hang out with their friends, inside or outside, this is not the time to do so. We all need to follow the direction of Dr. Heather Morrison and practice social-distancing – this is a time when we encourage teenagers to use social media to “meet up” with their friends.
We will continue to be in touch by email or on the school blog as more information becomes available to us in the coming days. Please reach out by email if you have questions.
