Updated info re: Travel

Hello Parents & Guardians of SKC-

During the Government press conference yesterday morning, it was announced that all non-essential travel to and from PEI would be suspended for two weeks, effective at 12:01 am Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Further, for any Islanders who have traveled to the provinces of Nova Scotia or New Brunswick within the last week (since November 16), they are being advised to follow the following Public Health Guidance:

Closely monitor for symptoms

Wear a mask or face covering at all times (including outdoors)

Limit your contacts

Practice good hand hygiene

Physically distance when possible

Download the COVID alert app

The PSB supports this direction and asks that all staff follow the guidance. This guidance should be followed for 14 days from the date of return to PEI.

Dr. Morrison has indicated that students who have traveled to the areas listed above should continue to attend school while following the enhanced Public Health Guidance listed above. In addition, for students who have traveled to NS or NB within the last week, they should not be participating in organized activities outside the regular school day for 14 days from the date of return. This would include community based activities as well as any before or after school activities, such as school basketball teams, after school tutoring, before school band practice, before/after school clubs, etc. We would ask that students not be penalized if they are required to follow this Public Health Guidance.

Anyone experiencing symptoms should immediately visit a drop-in testing clinic to be tested, and self-isolate. princeedwardisland.ca/covidtesting

Nov 23/20: Absences

Hello Parents & Guardians of SKC Students-

Today has been a day with many reported absences. We just wanted to take this time to thank you for your diligence, and understanding in keeping your symptomatic children home.

If your child is absent, we ask that you please call the office (902-962-7400) or notify their teacher of why your child is absent. Appointments, sickness, and COVID symptoms, for example, are all documented differently, and is tracked on a daily basis. If we do not know why your child is absent, it is recorded as unexcused, and counts against your child’s absentee record by default.

Please continue to monitor for COVID Symptoms, and follow the instructions outlined on the screening questionnaire:
