Nov 6/19: Bus Changes Affecting All Students of SKC

November 6, 2019

Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):

On Thursday, Oct 31st we were informed we would not be replacing a driver for Dianne MacKinnon’s bus #683.  This decision came from the Dept. of Transportation at the Public Schools Branch.  The PSB will be taking our bus #487, and Kenny MacFarlane will take over driving bus #683 to accommodate our wheel-chair students.  All other drivers will keep their same bus numbers.

On Friday Nov 1st, we met with current drivers to share new routes and for them to go over pick-up and drop-off times.  These times have been since shared with the PSB, and will be sending these changes home with students today with report cards.

As always, these times are not written in stone.  I ask parents to be vigilant 10 minutes prior to stated arrival until the kinks are worked out.  Due to increased numbers of students travelling on our five busses, it becomes increasingly difficult to transport extra students to after-school events, or activities (ex: sleepovers, parties) because of bus capacity.  Parents need to be aware that requests for extra passengers may not be approved depending on bus numbers on any given day.

When sending bus notes to school with your child, please ensure the civic address is included, particularly if this is not the address of another current student, or a frequent stop for your child.

The new runs will start the morning of Tuesday, November 12th

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact John at the school.  We appreciate your help as we undergo this bussing change at Southern Kings Consolidated.

Thank-you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

John Van Dyke
Principal
