Board of Directors Cancellation of Classes

The Public Schools Branch Board of Directors reviewed the resolution of April 1, 2020. As recommended by the Chief Public Health Officer, classes will remain cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Board of Directors Committee of the Whole Meeting

Friday, May 15, 2020

A meeting of the Board of Directors for the Public Schools Branch was held on April 1, 2020 pursuant to subsection 14(2) of the Education Act, at that meeting the following Resolution was passed:

BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to the authority under subsection 5(b) of the Education Act School Calendar Regulations, there shall be no classes held at any school premises of the Public Schools Branch from March 23, 2020 to May 10, 2020 and that, the Public Schools Branch board of directors shall review this notice on, or before, April 30, 2020 or on the advice or recommendation of the Chief Public Health Officer.

The meeting was held in private pursuant to subsection 13(3) of the Education Act Education Authority Regulations.

Since April 1, 2020 the state of public health emergency has continued and a Provincial State of emergency was declared on April 17, 2020 and continues to be in effect. Please see the attached Public Health Order dated the 8th day of May, 2020 and the Ministerial Order for Renewal of Provincial State of Emergency dated the 30th day of April, 2020.

As was required by the Resolution passed on April 1, 2020 the Public Schools Branch Board of Directors, has reviewed the cancellation of classes and in consideration of recommendations of the Chief Public Health Officer has cancelled all remaining classes on school premises for the 2019-2020 school year effective May 11, 2020.

Instructional personnel may continue to engage with students in providing learning and curriculum materials for Department of Education and Lifelong Learning approved educational programs.

Further arrangements may be made and communicated to students for the collection of personal items from school premises.

PSB Board of Directors Decision

The Public Schools Branch Board of Directors held a special meeting on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. to pass a motion to formally cancel PSB classes held on school premises, from March 23, 2020 to May 11, 2020, as recommended by the Chief Public Health Officer. The Board of Directors shall review this decision on, or before, April, 30, 2020 or on the advice or recommendation of the Chief Public Health Officer. The meeting was not held in a public forum as a matter of public interest.

Board of Directors Meeting – Monday, March 30, 2020 6:30 p.m.

The Public Schools Branch Board of Directors Public Meeting will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020, 6:30 p.m. at Morell Consolidated, 7755 St. Peters Rd – Route 2, Morell.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. Any member of the public who wishes to make a presentation to the Board must submit a written request to the Board Chair or the Director of the Public Schools Branch by 4 p.m. on March 19, 2020 to the Public Schools Branch Stratford Office, 2-234 Shakespeare Drive, Stratford, PE C1B 2V8, or by email to sxgauthier@edu.pe.ca.
