Join us for the PSB Bus Driver Job Fair!

We’re hiring! Join us Saturday, June 12, from 10am to 2pm, for the Public Schools Branch Bus Driver Job Fair. We’ll be at three locations across the Island: 

  • Bloomfield Mall in West Prince
  • Canadian Tire in Charlottetown
  • Superstore in Montague

Bus drivers are an essential part of the Island education system. Thanks to our school bus drivers, 17,000 students are transported via 14,000 bus stops to and from 56 schools across the Island every day.

COVID-19 vaccine school roll-out for Grades 7, 8 and 9

As announced on May 18, 2021, by Dr. Morrison, CPHO is planning to run COVID-19 vaccination clinics in schools for Grades 7, 8 and 9 students. The vaccine roll-out is planned to take place across PEI throughout the month of June. Your school will be in touch with you in the coming days with more details on the date for your child’s school.

Board of Directors Meeting – May 17, 2021

The Board of Directors of the Public Schools Branch will be hosting a public meeting on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stratford Office, 2-234 Shakespeare Drive, Stratford.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. Following the guidance of Renew PEI Together, physical distancing will be required at the meeting which will result in a maximum number of people being able to attend. If you wish to attend, please email or call 902-368-6990 by Monday, May 17 at noon.

Hand sanitizer will be available. If you feel unwell or show any of the following symptoms (cough, headache, fever/chills, sore throat, marked fatigue, sneezing, congestion, body aches, runny nose), please do not attend.

New director of Public Schools Branch announced

The Public Schools Branch Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Norbert Carpenter as director of the Public Schools Branch.

Mr. Carpenter has served as the acting director since July 2020. The board of directors has been consistently impressed with his skills and leadership. He has navigated the many challenges of a return to school during a worldwide pandemic, while simultaneously overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the Branch’s 56 schools and offices.

Mr. Carpenter brings a wealth of experience working in Prince Edward Island’s public school system, including more than 20 years as a teacher and principal. Before becoming acting director, he served as an administrator support leader, a position which saw him directly support principals across PEI. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Prince Edward Island, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Maine and a Masters of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University.
