The Public Schools Branch values input on the development of its policies. The Student Investigation and Search policy and procedure have been redrafted to replace existing documents. The new drafts also incorporate the Relations with Law Enforcement and Child Protection Authorities policy and procedure so that the information and direction can be accessed under one policy.
The Public Schools Branch is committed to ensuring that students and staff have a safe and caring learning and working environment. In order to maintain such an environment, it may be necessary to conduct a student investigation or search. The documents set out expectations and provide direction on when and how an investigation and/or search is to be conducted.
