It’s hard to believe, but the final newsletter of the year has been posted. Among the highlights for the final month of the school year are: year-end field trips for all grades (June 19 – rain date June 20), Home and School natural playscape construction (June 16), Parkdale grade 6 fun day (June 22), School-wide fun day (June 25), and the grade 6 closing (June 26 – 5 PM).
The May newsletter has now been posted. Just a few dates to keep in mind. Our “Welcome to Kindergarten” evening is set for May 10th at 6 PM. The Stonepark orientation for grade 6 students will be Friday, May 18th in the afternoon. Any grade 6 students going to Birchwood will have to attend a morning session on that same day. There are no classes on Monday, May 21st as it is Victoria Day, and there is a Home and School meeting on Tuesday, May 29th at 6:30 PM.
The April newsletter has now been uploaded, and it is a busy month at the school. There is a home and school meeting this month, and it is being held on Tuesday, April 24th beginning at 6:30 pm. The theme this month is “Movie Night” so feel free to take your child along as you attend the meeting. There is also a document uploaded under “Home and School” for parents to check out.
There will be a pancake breakfast held at the school on Friday, April 27th, and spring photos will be held on Monday, April 30th. Just a reminder that there is no school this coming Friday, April 13th as this is a professional development day for teaching staff.
The March newsletter has now been posted. Just a reminder that there are no classes this coming Tuesday, March 6th due to a professional development day for teachers. March Break is the week of March 26th – March 30th and there will be no classes. Classes will resume after the break on Wednesday, April 4th.
Welcome back! The January newsletter has been posted. After some stormy weather and unexpected closures, we are all set to get back into a routine. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather the season brings. If they wish to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots and mittens/gloves.
Looking ahead, the Game Force video gaming program is being made available to grade 5/6 this month on a “first come, first serve” basis. There is a home and school meeting on Tuesday, January 30th at 6:30 pm and there are no classes on Wednesday, January 31st as it is a professional development day for teachers. Also, Ms. Gallant has launched a grade 3/4 blog so check out the link under “Virtual Classrooms, Search Engines and Student Links”.
There has been information posted under the “Parents and School Goals” section of the site with regards to storm days and winter weather cancellations.
We’d like to thank all parents/guardians that attended our first round of parent/teacher conferences. Valuable information was exchanged, and your participation in your child’s education is vital and appreciated.
The countdown to Christmas break is on, and on that note, Christmas concerts are fast approaching here at Parkdale School. On Tuesday, December 5th the kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 1/2 concert will be held. The following evening, Wednesday, December 6th, the grade 3-6 concert will be presented. The last instructional day for students for 2017 is Friday, December 22nd.
Just a reminder that school picture day is October 23rd, and there is a home and school meeting on October 24th beginning at 6:30 PM.
The school handbook has just been posted under “School Handbook & Calendar”.
Next week is the annual PEI Teachers’ Federation and Canadian Union of Public Employees Annual Convention. It is held on October 19th and 20th, so there will be no classes on those days next week.
The October newsletter has now been posted. Just a reminder that there is no school Friday, October 6th as it is a professional development day for teachers. Also, Monday October 9th is Thanksgiving and there are no classes on that day either.
We will be having our Terry Fox Run tomorrow at the school just before lunch. Children are encouraged to make a donation of a loonie as Terry’s dream was to receive a dollar from every Canadian during his Marathon of Hope.
We are off and running here at Parkdale midway through the first full week of school. Just a few items to make note of:
