Heart Garden

Gulf Shore’s Heart Garden is now on display in front of the school.  Last week, Gulf Shore students and staff created hearts with images and messages. Each heart represents a child who attended or was lost to residential school. The first Heart Garden was created on June 3rd 2015 at the closing ceremonies for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  Every year during this week, schools and communities are encouraged to learn about, remember and honour the children.

Later this week, the Heart Garden display will be moved to a garden bed outside the primary classrooms where seeds and flowers will be added to the display.  The act of planting represents our commitment to the act of reconciliation.
