Social Studies Learning

As part of their Social Studies classes, the grade 456 and grade 789 English classes travelled to the Skmaqn-Port la Joye-Fort Amherst National Historic site to hear from two Mi’kmaq elders who recently finished building a traditional birch bark canoe. Students also visited a traditional wigwam and the remains of a fortification. The site is an important connection to the Mi’kmaq, French, Acadian and British history of PEI.
