Greenfield News – October 18th!

We have some catching up to do so this post will be a little longer than usual.  There is a lot of news to share!

First some reminders:

1. Picture Retakes will be on Wednesday, November 6th.

2. Please pay for your HotLunches orders for October. All orders should be paid for by now.

International Day of Peace:
On September 19th, Greenfield staff and students celebrated International Day of Peace.  We shared a message for peace in the gym and after recess, we made a pledge for peace as we gathered on the soccer field and we had our picture taken.  The theme this year was “Climate Action for Peace.” Here is our fantastic picture.  We are all there!
Thank you to Mrs. MG and Mr. Downey for leading this celebration.

Lunch and Learn:
Every year we have students from Grade 2 attend a “Lunch and Learn” at the Summerside Fire Station during Fire Prevention Week.  On October 9th, 12 students were picked up by a fire truck and taken to the Fire Station to learn about fire safety and to have lunch. Here they are enjoying their visit.

Cross Country:
If you don’t already know, we have great runners here at Greenfield.  At the Zone Competition that was held at Cabot Park on October 8th, our Girls Novice and Pre-Novice Teams placed first and our Boys Novice and Pre-Novice Teams placed 2nd.  we have a number of students competing in the Provincials on Saturday and we wish them good luck. Run, Gators, Run!

Fire Drill:
On Wednesday, October 16th, the Fire Marshall was by to see a Greenfield Fire Drill. Our students were excellent and we received top marks!
