2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration- November 18-22, 2019

Parents are asked to register their children prior to or during the week of November 18-22, 2019

  • Children must be at least 5 years old by December 31, 2020 in order to be eligible for Kindergarten
  • Parents are asked to register their child at their local elementary school during school hours. If you are unsure of your school zone, please call the Stratford Office (902-368-6990) or Toll Free 1-800-280-7965
  • A registration form will be completed at the time of registration
  • Parents are asked to bring a piece of Government issues ID verifying proof of child’s age. Examples are: Birth Certificate, PEI Health Card, Passport
  • Verification of home address must also be provided, such a current utility bill
  • Welcome to Kindergarten sessions for incoming students and their parents will be held at schools in the spring of 2020

Day 1- October 31, 2019

  • Election Day today at Georgetown School for Students @ 11:10 – Good luck candidates in grades 4-8
  • Halloween Dance today at @ 2pm with treats and prizes provided by Eden’s Gate and Music by DJ Seth Gotell
  • Early Recess happening to allow for kids to get some fresh air prior to the dance party and Halloween celebrations happening today at GES
  • Welcome to staff guest Ms. MacGregor
  • Pizza Day today with pizza ordered from Maroon Pig
  • Grill Cheese Sandwich Day tomorrow for hot lunch program
  • Wishing everyone have a safe and Happy Halloween…from the Superhero staff of Georgetown Elementary

Halloween Dance Information

Georgetown’s School Annual Dance is happening once again with the generosity of community members and school alumni Bobbi Jo MacLean and Eden Boudreau of Eden’s Gate Restaurant
When-  Thursday October 31 from 2-3 during school hours
Who- All Students and Staff are invited to dress up at 1:45 after second recess
WhereIn the School Gym where prizes will be awarded and treats for all the students are available
What- A real DJ? Yes, Home and School is providing Music by Seth Gotell with a light show and all the best tunes for the kiddos
Please make sure costumes are appropriate for a K-8 school. Leave the weapons including knives, guns and swords at home!
Hope everyone has a Spooktacular time again this year!

Day 5- October 29, 2019

  • School Picture Order Deadline extended until tomorrow- October 30th
  • Halloween Dance on Thursday October 31 from 2-3 and class Halloween activities after lunch
  • Student After School Sports starts today- 3:15-4:15pm This student led program will continue for 3 weeks.
  • Please make staff guests and visitors welcome: Ms. Jordan, Ms. O’Donnell, Ms. Quinn and Ms. MacGregor. Public Health Nursing and Ms. Laurie Bell, Literacy Coach are visiting today as well.
  • Congrats to R. Jay M. who was our first Hornet Pick of the Week for October 25. R. Jay will be getting free pizza on October 31st. Great Job R. Jay on setting positive examples to your fellow classmates

Day 3- October 25, 2019

  • Welcome to staff visitors and guests, including Mr. Norbert Carpenter and the Public Health Dental team, to GES today
  • Hot Dog Day
  • Wellness Walk this morning at 9:30-10:00am
  • Our first Hornet Pick of the Week will be today… great job by all our Hornets getting caught in acts of kindness. There will be a short assembly in the library for Hornet Pick of the Week at 1:40 pm today

Day 2- October 24, 2019

  • IHT for grades 7 and 8 today at Montague Intermediate
  • School Dance for Grade 7 and 8 students at Montague Intermediate this evening at 7-9:15 pm $4 admission + non perishable item for food bank. Dress code is black and orange. Mrs. O’Hanley will be chaperoning
  • Pizza Day today at G.E.S.- Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza provided by Maroon Pig
  • Hot Dog Day tomorrow
  • Flu Clinic offered by PEI Public Health will be out of the school gym this evening from 3:30- 7pm. Please bring PEI health card to get your free flu shot
  • Consents due back from students in K- 4 interested in participating in the student led after school sports activities starting on October 29.
  • Kindergarten students and Grade 1 students will be going to the Genevieve Solomon Memorial Library today on a little field trip

Day 6, October 22, 2019

  • Welcome to staff guest and visitors including Ms. Marcy Lesprance, Ms. Ann Thompson and Ms. Juliana Jordan
  • Public Health Dental Nursing will be in the school the next few days visiting students and checking on their dental health
  • Hornet Pick of the Week is starting up again. Teachers will be handing out “Caught You Caring” cards when they see children doing positive behaviours. Each week a student will be chosen to be added to our “Wall of Fame” and their positive acts will be praised!
  • Hot dog day Friday and Pizza day is Thursday…get your orders in!

Morell Regional High School- Haunted House

Band Students from Morell Regional High School are inviting families, students and staff of Georgetown School to their Haunted House.

The spooktacular time will be taking place on October 28 and 29th at Morell High School from 5-8 pm

Cost is $3.00 for students and $4.50 for adults

Day 5, October 21, 2019

  • Welcome to staff guest and visitors, today Erin Johnston from the PSB will be visiting GES
  • Great showing at Provincial x-country meet in Mill River on Saturday. Some of our athletes placed including Maria M. Sitota H. Rhys J-O. and Layla J-O. Excellent job by everyone!!
  • Federal Election today for staff and adults to vote in. Grade 7 & 8 will also be having a mock election and casting their votes today in class with Ms. Mair
  • Intramurals will begin today with students from grades 1-4 playing at lunch time
  • Hot Lunch orders will be accepted for the upcoming week- Hot Dog Day on Friday and Pizza from the Maroon Pig on Thursday
  • Intermediate Dance at MIS on Thursday- Students in Gr. 7 & 8 are invited to attend. Orange and Black dress is the theme. $4 to attend and non perishable item for food bank accepted
  • Mr. Gallison is getting his reward for having such amazing Georgetown School Fundraising students- $912.85 was raised for the Terry Fox Run. Watch for pics of Mr. G in his stylish outfit from today 🙂
