  • The OAC will meet today in Mr. Dohoo’s room at 11:55 to discuss the downhill skiing outing. New members are always welcome.

Diversity Club:

  • Students we are starting a Diversity Club at Birchwood and would love to hear your ideas on how to celebrate different cultures at Birchwood. If you are interested, please sign up on the sheets posted outside the office.

Outdoor adventure club:

  • Outdoor adventure club members coming tubing are asked to head to the art room after school as soon as possible. Don’t forget to have your mask on!

    • The AAG pulled out a victory last night in Summerside as a result of some terrific team defense! Excellent job girls. Practice this evening from 2:55-4:30.
    • A Girls won 46-30 over Souris and are moving on to the next round of the playoffs.  Congrats to Akari for sinking a 3 pointer and to Molly, who had 14 points and lead the way on the court.  Practice tomorrow at 12:30.
    • AA Boys are heading to Montague today.  Please meet in the gym at 3pm.
    • Extra special shout out to Arun and Ziyad who did an amazing job at setting up before yesterday’s game.

Family Violence Prevention Week 2021:

  • This week is Family Violence Prevention Week.  This year’s theme is Connecting Differently.
  • Today is ‘wear purple day’:  Islanders are encouraged to wear purple to raise awareness of the campaign, to remember victims of violence and their families and to demonstrate that violence in any relationship is not acceptable.  Purple ribbon temporary tattoos have been distributed to homeroom teachers and all staff will find a purple ribbon badge in your mailbox.

Birchwood Staff Appreciation Week, Feb. 16-19

Staff Appreciation Week!

Home and school would like to show support for our amazing Birchwood staff during staff appreciation week, Feb. 16-19. Because of Covid restrictions we cannot accept food goods. In lieu of that, If you would like to make a donation, home and school will use the funds to provide snacks and lunch items for the staff next week. Please e-transfer to birchwood@edu.pe.ca and put staff appreciation in the message.

Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 – Day 4

Hey Cobras!

  • Here’s a contest you won’t want to miss out on. We are looking for a Cobra to put on our gym wall. To show school pride and spirit….grab your pencil and paper and submit your design, by Feb 19.
  • A panel of artists will judge the designs and decide the winner. The winner will receive an awesome prize, too!

    • A girls had a huge win on the road yesterday over Francois Buote.  Congrats to the top scorer, Lilly MacVicar, who was also celebrating her birthday yesterday!  Practice Friday 2:55.  Playoff game next week.
    • AA Boys won on the road over Athena 54-31 with Gabe Ing leading the way on the score sheet.  Practice tomorrow at 4:30.
    • Our overall basketball record is 28-2 and teams are finishing up their seasons today or next week.  Good luck in the playoffs!  More information on playoffs to come.
