Hockey Academy

  • Hockey Academy today for Gr. 8/9.  Students will dismiss at 1:45

Athletics:

Volleyball:

  • Boys Practice @ 4:30.  Boys play tomorrow at Stonepark and host Summerside Friday at 5:30pm
  • Congratulations to the AA Girls on defeating East Wiltshire 3 games straight. Game day tomorrow at Stonepark at 4:00pm.   Practice at 3:00 – 4:30 today.
  • Please pay your tournament fee to your coach asap or online birchwood@edu.pe.ca

Soccer:

  • Girls A Soccer practice from 3:15 to 4:30. The girls will play their first play-off game tomorrow against Gulf Shore at home.
  • Boys A Soccer practice 3:15-4:30
  • Girls AA Soccer practice today 3-4:30.  Playoff game tomorrow at home – tima TBA.  All girls received a note yesterday with the details of the rest of the season.
  • Boys AA Soccer:  yesterday was an epic day for the boys’ team.  HUGE win for the Cobras 2-1 over QC. Demmoy and Matt MacLean scored.  Cam Walsh had an outstanding game. It’s off to the playoffs, where anything can happen!  Meeting in Mme. Gavard’s room today at break

Only a handful of athletic fees are outstanding.  Thanks in advance for paying up!

Girls Field hockey:

Wrestling

  • First practice will take place in the cafeteria on Monday, Oct 28 3-4:30 with Ms.Morrison.  All are welcome! Practices will run Mon and Wed for Oct and Nov with more practices being added.  There will be a camp at Col Gray on Nov 9/10.
  • Library: Congrats to the 2 winning trivia teams yesterday everyone had a great time! Today at lunch we will be serving hot chocolate to anyone who is reading in the library!

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 – Day 6

Birchwood Spirit Week:

  • Awesome spirit everyone!! Nice to see everyone looking cozy and comfy!! A Leadership student will be by this morning to count the number of participants in each class. Thanks for your cooperation! Don’t forget that tomorrow is Tropical Weather!!!
  • A reminder that our first dance is this Thursday!! Halloween themed so dress up in your best costume!! Prizes awarded! And so much fun to be had!! 7-9 in the Cafeteria. Admission 5$.

Soccer:

  • AA boys soccer meeting today in Mrs. Gavard’s homeroom at 9:45 break.  Game today at QC at 4:15 pm
  • A girls soccer team host their last regular season game today at 4:15 against Gulf Shore. Please be ready and at the field no later than 3:50. There will be practice tomorrow as our first play-off game may be this Thursday! Will update with play-off schedule as soon as the games are determined.
  • Congrats to the Boys A Soccer team for a 4-3 win over Francois Buote.  David Xu opened the scoring. Ryland and Laith scored, as well as Little Mo Khudor who scored his first to round out the scoring. The boys end the season with a 3-3 record and are getting ready for the playoffs Thursday.  Practice Tuesday and Wednesday after school.
  • AA Girls Soccer team have a workout in the cafeteria today after school 3 pm – 4 pm.  Practice tomorrow 3-4:30

Girls Field hockey:

Wrestling

Cross Country:

  • A big congratulations to our Cross Country runners who participated in the Provincial Meet this weekend in Mill River.  Special recognition to Brooke Walsh who took home GOLD and Bella Doyle with the BRONZE.
  • Also congrats to the Girls Intermediate team who won GOLD as well.  Awesome Job Ladies!!

Volleyball:

  • Congratulations to Rebekah McGeoghegan on the AAVolleyball team.  Rebekah won the setting skills competition at the Bible Hill Volleyball tournament this past weekend.  Practice will be at 4:30 today.

Soccer:

  • Boys AA soccer will play against East Whiltshire today at 4:30 in Cornwall…  Team meeting in gym today at 9:45 am break to discuss drives.
  • Boys A Soccer team plays at Francois Buote at 4:15.  Make sure to make arrangements to be picked up after the game.  Please meet in Mr. Chaisson’s room at break for a short meeting.
  • Girls A soccer will practice today 3:15 to 4:30. Home game tomorrow.

Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 – Day 3

Election Day Poll Station at Birchwood:

  • As in previous years, Elections Canada has designated Birchwood as a location for a single election poll for the upcoming Federal election being held on October 21st. Processes are in place to limit interaction between voters and the student population. Elections Canada will be providing additional security and our school day will function as normal.

All after school activities are cancelled today because of weather.

Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 – Day 2

Outdoor Adventure:

  • Reminder all outdoor Adventure club members meet in the cageteria no later than 3:10 after school.

Hockey Academy:

  • Hockey Academy for grade 8/9 students today.

Duke of Edinburgh: 

  • All Duke students are asked to attend a meeting to learn about the Online Record Book on Friday at 1pm in Room 225 (Mr.Beaton’s room). A Duke of Ed volunteer rep will be coming to get you started and  answer any questions.

Band:

  • Grade 7 band today at lunch

The COBRAS swept Stonepark yesterday!

Volleyball:

  • Boys played very well and were victorious over Stonepark last night! Practice today at 4:30pm
  • Girls won vs Stonepark 3-0
  • Girls A practice today 3:00 – 4:30.

Soccer:

  • AAG won 3-0 vs Stonepark.  Goals were scored by Maiya Chaudhary, Rayann Ferguson and Zoe Olscamp.  Abby Redmond had a strong game in goal and the girls had several other quality chances to score.  Way to go! Practice today 3-4 in the caf. Bring your sneakers! We have finished the regular season at 2-2-1.  Practice and playoff schedule tba.
  • AG are closing the gap but fell 4-0 to Souris, practice today from 3:15 to 4:30.
  • A combo of A and AA Boys had a convincing victory over the Mount.  Nathaniel Stuit had the first goal and Arun Darjee put the victory away with 2 goals.  Natan was between the pipes!

Girls Field hockey:

  • Girls beat Stonepark 2-0!
  • Game today in Montague at 4:00. Please excuse girls at 2:40

Cross Country

  • Students who will be travelling to Cross Country provincials this weekend, please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room at break.

Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 – Day 1

Fundraiser :

  • Recipe in a Jar: Paper forms and money are due today. Please turn into homeroom teacher. We will extend homeroom 5-10 minutes for teachers to complete the tally form. A leadership student will be by to collect the tally form and envelopes with money and paper forms. Online sales close Thursday, October 17!

Outdoor Adventure: 

  • The outdoor adventure club will have a meeting today at 12:15 in Mr. Dohoo’s room, room 237, to discuss this weeks outing. New members are always welcome.

Band:

  • Grade 7 band tomorrow at lunch.

  • Boys – Game today at QC @ 5:30
  • There’s been a change – Girls game is now at HOME.  We are hosting Stonepark at 4pm

  • Boys soccer exhibition game today vs The Mount.  Meeting at break in the gym.
  • Girls A Soccer – home game today vs Souris at 4:30. Please be dressed and at the field no later than 4:10.

Sports Notes

Soccer:

  • The AA Girls team traveled west to play a game we won’t soon forget.  Chloe Campbell scored on a penalty kick, her second one this week! A solid effort by everyone despite the loss 2-1.
  • Practice today until 4:15pm.  Avery Neale – please see Ms Morrison in the gym right after announcements. Chloe Campbell, please see Ms. Morrison at break!
  • Girls A Soccer team will practice 3:15-4:30 today
