Band:

  • Grade 8 woodwinds meet tomorrow morning at 7:45am.  Grade 7 brass meet tomorrow at lunch.

Hockey Academy:

Basketball:

  • The AA Boys kept it close but managed to defeat East Wiltshire 65-61.  It was a total team effort with scoring being spread out: Gabe 14, Ziyad 14, Jarod 11, Kambi 9, Arun 9 and Mason 8.  Gabe was named an all star, Ziyad was MVP and Arun stepped up in a big way to be named Player of the Game.
  • Big thanks to coaches Jeff and Kandace.
  • We are looking forward to proudly displaying both PEISAA AA Basketball banners in our gym!

    • AA Boys play their final game today at East Wiltshire at 6:15pm.  You will have a meeting and shooting practice today at noon in the gym.  Players & coaches can arrive at tonight’s game 40 minutes before game time.  Enter through the end doors (facing soccer field).  Doors open for spectators 15 minutes before game time.  50 spectators / team.
    • In finals last evening, we had our 2 girls teams going for Gold. Congrats to both teams!
    • The AA Girls defeated Stonepark 51-36 and took home the PEISAA Championship better for the second year in a row.  The game was close at half but the Cobras pulled away in the second half.

      • Thanks to our coaches Andrew Whelan and Cameron Olscamp for their dedication all season!
    • In A Girls Action, Birchwod travelled to Hernwood to battle Vernon River.  The game was tied after regulation play.  In overtime, Vernon River was able to pull ahead and win 33-30.  Congrats on the silver medal and thank you to our dedicated coaches: Cindy Lang, Kandace McEntee and Len Lang.

Grade 9 High School Course Selection:

  • Today is the deadline for all grade 9 students to have their high school forms in. 
  • That includes the low risk form, media release, and course sign off sheets. 
  • If you have not submitted your forms yet, please speak to your homeroom teacher today

Grade 7:

  • Grade 7’s will have an off-grounds day Friday.

    • Last night’s games were not for the faint of heart!  
    • The A Girls defeated Hernwood in what may have been THE most exciting bball game in Cobra history!  The game was tied 37-37 after regulation play.  Final score – after 2 periods of 5 minute overtime – was 54-48.  HUGE shout out to Faith Gray who came off the bench to lead the way in the latter stages of the game.  Her thrilling 3 pointer secured the win.  Lilly MacVicar had 23 points to lead the team in scoring.  Practice today 4:30 – 5:30.  Gold medal finals on Saturday at 2:00pm in Hernwood vs Vernon River.
    • In AA Boys action, the Cobra fangs came out to claw their way back in the second half.  Final score over Hernwood was 59-52.  Dillon had the hot shooting hand with 5 3 pointers and Gabe was top scorer with 21 points.  Practice today 2:55.  Gold medal finals on Saturday at 4:15 vs East Wiltshire at East Wiltshire
    • AA Girls hosted East Wiltshire and won 60-22.  It was a team effort by all players!  Practice today 2:55
    • Finals on Saturday at 2:00pm at East Wiltshire vs Stonepark
    • We would like to congratulate our Grade 9 players who played their final home game as a Cobra: ONCE A COBRA ALWAYS A COBRA!

Basketball:

  • In Cobras March Madness action last evening, the AA Boys team eliminated Stonepark 65-34. Top scorers were Ziyad & Dillon, with 14 points each.  They practice today at 6:05pm and host Hernwood in a playoff game tomorrow (Thursday).
  • On the girls’ side, the A squad hosted Vernon River – both teams were undefeated.  The girls were down 17-10 at the half and pulled off one of the biggest comebacks in Corbas history to defeat the Mustangs 36-31!  Akari was the top scorer with 12 points and Lilly M had 10.  Practice today at 4:30 and hosting Hernwood tomorrow.
  • AA Girls practice today at 2:55.  The team will host East Wiltshire, who upset Summerside last evening.

Grade 7 Health:

  • Welcome to Jaime Griffin from the Women’s Network, who is facilitating a workshop called An Honest Conversation.  All Mme. Bernard & Ms. Morrison’s health classes today are in the Science Lab.

Go Code Girl Day

A virtual “home edition” called Go CODE Girl for Grades 7-10 girls will take place on March 27, 2021. Normally this is an in-person event on a Saturday afternoon in March/April but this year all of the 20 other engineering universities across Canada will be holding it virtually! Registration is free, but space is limited.
Deadline to register is this Wednesday 3/24 by 4:00 PM.

Outdoor adventure club: 

  • The outdoor adventure club will meet at 12 oclock in the art room. Any members interested in this week’s outing must attend this meeting. Mr. Dohoo is on leave and therefore club members that don’t come to the meeting will not be able to sign up at a later time!
