Tuesday, April 16, 2019 – Day 5

Duke of Edinburgh:

  • There will be a meeting for current grade 8 students interested in learning about the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Medallion program.  This will take place this Thursday at 12:10 in Mr.MacEachern’s room.

Wrestling:

  • Practice on Wed.  No practice on Thursday or Monday.  Provincials are next week! Please see Ms. Morrison in the gym at break to talk about ordering team shirts.

Badminton:

  • Congratulations to the Birchwood badminton teams as they represented our school at the Badminton zone meets yesterday.  We had a great team showing having medaled in all categories !!!

Hockey Academy

  • Last Hockey Academy this week.  Ice session will be at MacLaughlin Arena. 2:30 -3:30

Band:

  • Jazz band at lunch today.
  • Grade 8 band tomorrow morning at 7:45.
  • Grade 7 band tomorrow at lunch.

Monday, April 15, 2019 – Day 4

Ringette:

  • This past week, one of our student athletes, Hailey Murphy had the opportunity to play in the 2019 Canadian Ringette Championships here on PEI. Hailey’s PEI U16 Wave Ringette team made history by being the first team from PEI to medal in the forty one year history of this tournament. At the beginning of the week, Hailey’s team was ranked 19th out of the 19 teams participating in the tournament and in the end after the dust settled, they came away with a silver medal. Hailey played a great offensive game in the tournament and shot the game winning goal in overtime during the quarter finals to advance the team to the semi finals. Mrs. Jeffery also had a great experience watching her daughter Sophia being named as a 1st team all-star for the tournament. Congrats to both girls on this amazing achievement.

Hockey Academy:  

  • Last Hockey Academy this week.  Ice session will be at MacLaughlin Arena. 2:30 -3:30

Math Gauss Contest:  

  • Any Students wishing to take part in the Math Gauss contest please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room (162) at break for a meeting.

Library:

  • We still have close to 100 books that are OVERDUE. Please get all your overdue library books back to the library today. If you think you’ve already returned your book or if you lost your book, please see Mrs. Gairns asap.

Wrestling:

  • Wrestling practice today in preparation for next week’s Provincials.

Badminton:

  • Badminton TEAM meeting today in the gym at 9:45 am break.
  • Good luck to all players participating in the Zone meet today.

Band:  

  • Grade 9 band at 7:45am tomorrow morning.

Yearbook:

  • Meeting today in room 224

Hockey Academy

  • Please excuse grade 7’s today at 1:30 for hockey academy.  Reminder it is at Simmons Rink.

Badminton:

  • Practice 3 pm – 4:30 pm

Wrestling:

  • NO PRACTICE today!  Practice tomorrow (Thursday). Huge congrats to all who participated in yesterday’s zone meet.  It was a huge success.

Band:

  • Grade 7 band at lunch today.  Grade 7’s pass in forms for trip to sside.

Tuesday, April 9, 2019 – Day 1

Wrestling:

  • Birchwood is hosting a Zone tourney today.  Starts at 9:30am.

Badminton:

  • Practice 3 pm – 4:30 pm

Hockey Academy

  • Hockey Academy this Wednesday – Reminder ice session is at Simmons Rink.  2:15- 3:15. Could students please be dismissed at 1:30.

Band:

  • Jazz band at lunch today.
  • Grade 8 band at 7:45 tomorrow morning.
  • Grade 7 band at lunch tomorrow.
  • Grade 7 students, be sure to pick up the permission form to be signed by parents for your trip to Summerside on Thursday. This must be returned tomorrow.  If you have the signed form here today, please drop it off to Mr. Langille in the band room.

Library:

  • Please get your overdue books in today at break or lunch time.

Grade 10 Registration & Home & School Tonight

Important Dates for Gr 10 Registration

  • April 4th – Parent Information Sessions.
      • Charlottetown Rural – 7:00 pm.
      • Colonel Gray – 6:00 pm EAL, 7:00 pm
  • April 8th – Student Registration Information Session; 1:00 pm (Birchwood Jr. High)Representatives from both Ch Rural and Col Gray will be on hand to speak to students.
  • April 15th – Student Registration Forms Due (Parent/guardian signature required and Returned to Birchwood homeroom teachers).

April 17th – Registration Day. Completed through Birchwood home room classes. Incomplete/unsigned registrations will not be processed. Rural and Col Gray staff will be on-site at Birchwood to address any concerns regarding registration.
