Grade 8 parents and guardians:

Birchwood’s Grade 9 travel team has begun plans for next year’s grade 9 Trip to Ottawa and Québec City.  There will be a meeting, Tuesday evening, April 17th at 5:00pm, in the school’s cafeteria to discuss three fundraising opportunities. Click the link for more info. Grade 9 2019 Trip

Band:

  • Jazz band at lunch today.  All members must attend. Rehearsal begins at 12pm.
  • Grade 8/9 band meets tomorrow morning at 7:45am.

Wrestling:

  • Practice today 3:00 – 4:30

Badminton:

  • Good Luck to all Badminton team members as they travel to compete in the zone 3 Badminton finals today after school.  All players are asked to meet in the gym at 10:45 break.

Library:

  • The grade 8’s are leading the way in our Read to Shoot in the library. This is the final week, so be sure to take a shot after you check out your book.
  • The library is open after school for tutoring.  Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity provided by the Colonel Gray students.

Destination Imagination:

  • Congratulations to Cailyn MacAulay, Abby Chapman, Emma Kiley, Kate Doyle and Libby Smith from Stonepark who finished first in the Destination Imagination challenge on Saturday. They will now represent PEI at the Global Destination Imagination finals in Knoxville Tennessee in May. Yesterday they were on CBC Radio talking about their experience and their exciting trip in May.

  • All grade 7 band students going to Summerside today will  meet in the cafeteria after announcements with everything they need for our trip.

  • All Grade 7 band students will meet during second block (9:45-10:45) today in the band room for rehearsal.
  • They will also meet at noon for rehearsal.
  • Grade 7 permission forms for tomorrow’s trip to Summerside are due as well.

Flag Football:

  • Anyone interested in playing flag football this Spring, please meet in the gymnasium today at break (10:45 am).

Wrestling:

  • HUGE congrats to all the Cobras who competed yesterday! Practice today, no practice tomorrow.  Only 3 practices left until Provincials

Badminton:

  • Badminton Wednesday, Thursday, 3:00 – 4:30.

Hockey Academy:

  • Hockey Academy wraps up today for Gr. 8/9’s.  Can all students be dismissed today at 1:20 for busses.

OurSCHOOL Survey

  • Schools across PEI are implementing a provincial school survey program called OurSCHOOL.  The program involves surveys for students, teachers and parents. Surveys will open today for parents and close May 4. Look for an email with the survey link!
  • Students will be bringing home an information/permission form for the survey. All students will participate in the survey. Permission forms ONLY need to be returned if you DO NOT wish your child to participate in the survey.

Band: .

  • Grade 7 band lunch
  • Grade 7 band students will be traveling to Athena School in Summerside for Beginner Band Day on April 10th. Student will receive permission forms today

  • Girls Basketball U-14 try-out at Birchwood today from 6:00 – 7:30 pm

  • March Madness in the library will continue for the next two weeks. Check out a book and shoot three baskets to score a point for your homeroom. Mr. Chaisson and Mrs. Deighan’s homeroom are in the lead once again.
