Sports:

  • Intramurals: Badminton
  • Congratulations to our boys basketball team as they defeated Souris yesterday 59-58. They now move on to the provincials.

Miscellaneous:

  • Congratulations to Ingrid Forrester Wendt for representing our school at the Women’s Institute Island Food Product Contest. She finished in first place among her grade 7-12 peers.
  • The library will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 2:45 – 3:45 for students to do homework or work on projects.
  • To promote Pink Shirt Day, Feb 24, Birchwood is planning to have a Pink T-Shirt design challenge.  Each homeroom will create a design/logo for an anti bullying T-shirt and submit them by Feb. 19.  The shirt judged best will win a pizza party.  If a class (or individual) completes their shirt design by Feb. 8, it will be submitted to the Crime Stoppers pink t-shirt contest which is offering a number of great prizes. Each design needs to be represented on pink Bristol board (Available in the guidance area) and handed into Lynn or Michelle by Feb.19 for our school contest and Feb. 8 for Crime Stoppers. Examples of some done last year will be in the front lobby tomorrow.The themes for this year are:
  • KINDNESS, IS ONE SIZE FITS ALL
  • SPEAK UP,  STAND TOGETHER, STOP BULLYING

Music:

  • Birchwood Concert band meets today at lunch.
  • All instruments must go home today for practice over the weekend.

Cafeteria: 

  • Monday: No school.
  • Tuesday: . Lasagna with Caesar salad & garlic bread.
  • Wednesday: Soft taco with rice and corn.
  • Thursday: Sweet & sour chicken with rice & corn.
  • Friday: Baked fish with mashed potato.
