The first day after Christmas Break will be Monday, January 4, 2016, day 3

The girls Basketball team will practice over the holidays on December 28, 29, & 30 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

The boys Basketball team will practice over the holidays on December 28, 29, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 – Day 1

Sports:

  • Intramurals:
    •  Large Fries Vs. George of the Jungle
    •  Lucky seven Vs. Breakfast
  • Any of the boys basketball players wanting to shoot around can stay for an “optional” practice after school today.
  • There will be a Christmas skate taking place tomorrow morning at the Civic Center. Those students who are interested can they please see Mr. Brioux today. Reminder that helmets must be worn.

Cafeteria: 

  • Monday: Mac & Cheese with Garlic bread.
  • Tuesday: Regular menu.

Music:

  • There are still a number of instruments to be picked up in the band room today. Band room is closed today at lunch.

Friday, Dec. 18, 2015 – Day 6

Sports:

  • Intramurals:
    •  WWF Vs. Lucky seven
    •  Hellcats Vs. Large Fries

Miscellaneous: 

  • There will be a cake auction will be held on today before lunch.

Cafeteria: 

  • Friday: Baked fish with mashed potato & veg.

Music:

  • Super job to all band students last night!
  • Please make sure you pick up your instruments and music today. Mr. Langille will be doing inventory this weekend.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Just a quick update on some events taking place at Birchwood this week:

Thurs, Dec 17th, Birchwood Band Concert 7:00 – 8:15. Students who are in the Band program please be dressed and at the school by 6:30. No admission but goodwill offering at the door with proceeds going to Birchwood Band Program.

Parents if you would like to assist our Christmas Miracle Program by bringing baked goods that we can sell at the concert, it would be greatly appreciated.

We hope to see many parents attend. Our band students and Mr Langille are excited to perform for you.

Birchwood Student Council will be holding a cake auction on Friday, Dec 18th. Homemade and/or store bought cake donations are welcome.

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 – Day 4

Sports:

  • Intramurals:

    •  Hellcats Vs. Lucky seven
  • Girls Basketball practice today at 3pm.
  • No Boys Basketball practice today.
  • Both basketball teams will be playing at home Thursday. Thursday we play Queen Charlotte. The first game will tip off at 4 pm while the second game will begin approx. 5:30 pm.
  • Badminton club has been running the past 2 weeks on Wednesday evening 6 pm – 8pm. This week our club is cancelled as the Island Storm Basketball team will be in for some pre-season conditioning.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Birchwood Christmas Concert is this Thursday night at 7:00.
  • Student council please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room for a quick meeting at 12:10 today.
  • There will be a cake auction will be held on Friday before lunch.
  • Cookie dough orders will be here today at 2:00 for pickup. Students who are able to carry their orders home should pick up order before they go home.

  • Wednesday: BBQ Chicken Pizza with Salad.
  • Thursday: Roast Turkey dinner – Dressing, mashed potato, veg, apple crisp.
  • Friday: Baked fish with mashed potato & veg.

Music:

  • All band students make sure you have your instruments here on Wednesday and Thursday for rehearsals.
  • All students who are performing as a solo or small group in Christmas Concert must meet in band room at lunch for practice. Please bring everything you need for your performance.

  • Both basketball teams will be playing at home this Tuesday and Thursday (2 double headers).  Tuesday we play Vernon River and Thursday we play Queen Charlotte. The first game will tip off at 4 pm while the second game will begin approx. 5:30 pm.
  • Badminton club has been running the past 2 weeks on Wednesday evening 6 pm – 8pm. This week our club is cancelled as the Island Storm Basketball team will be in for some pre-season conditioning.

Sports:

  • The boys basketball team won their third straight game beating QC yesterday. High scorers for Birchwood were Matt Doyle with 14 points, Deepen Darjee with 13 points, and Keegan Carty with 12. No practice today.
  • Badminton club has been running the past 2 weeks on Wednesday evening 6 pm – 8pm. This week our club is cancelled as the Island Storm Basketball team will be in for some pre-season conditioning.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Reminder to please bring in food for the food bank drive.
  • Also Candy Cane sales will continue in the lobby.
  • The bowling group will be going to Murphy’s center today in the afternoon. There may be showers so wear a raincoat!

Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 – Day 6

Sports:

  • Open gym today for intramurals.
  • The boys basketball team won its second game of the season yesterday defeating Vernon River. Top scorers were: Christian Morrson & Matt Doyle.
  • Boys Basketball practice today at 3pm.
  • Girls Basketball practice today at 4:30pm.
  • Both basketball teams will be playing at home Thursday against Queen Charlotte. The first game will tip off at 4 pm while the second game will begin approx. 5:30 pm.

Birchwood Gives Back

Christmas is a wonderful busy time. At Birchwood we do our best to assist several Birchwood families who are in need. We undertake several fundraisers. If you are able to support our Christmas Program we would greatly appreciate it. It is our hope that all of our Birchwood families enjoy the holidays.

Birchwood Gives Back
The food bank has always been a major contributor to the Birchwood Christmas Program. We are asking students and staff to please make a donation of a non -perishable food item to our Food Bank Drive. Donations can be given to homeroom teachers or dropped off in the office through to Dec 18th.

Cake Auction
Thurs, Dec 17th. If you are able to make a cake for this event, please contact the office at 368-6870.

BBQ
We will be selling hotdogs and bottled water over lunch on Wed, December 9th. Proceeds will go to Xmas Program.

Santa Run or Walk
Saturday 12th, at the UPEI Student Union Centre.
Tickets $5

-Side of Pork from MacPhee Meats ( $250 value)
Please support by purchasing or selling tickets and/or participating in the event. Contact jxbrioux@edu.pe.ca for tickets or call 368-6870. The walk/run begins at 9 so please register between 8-8:45. It is a fun event and does not require a big time commitment, eg. the walk portion consists of walking from UPEI to the Farmers Market and back. There are refreshments, tons of door prizes, and it’s a great family event. So grab a Santa Hat and see you on Saturday!
